House Burglar Alarm
Having made up your mind to invest in a house burglar
alarm, here are some
further considerations.
1. Wireless or hard wired house burglar alarm?
If you opt for a wireless house burglar alarm you might need to
consider if it will
conflict with any other wireless devices you already have. And if it
will, then some different arrangements might need to be made about
siting equipment. I'm thinking here of potential wireless home networks.
2. Auto diallers. Am I so concerned about my property and its contents,
in my absence that I feel I must be notified as soon as possible after
the burglar alarm is triggered? If you are away on holiday or are just
a long
way from home, being told via telephone that your home might already
have broken into can be the sort of information you would rather know
immediately or perhaps leave until you have at least finished your
holiday. After all, the thief is going to be long gone after you have
been notified.
3. Panick alarm. Do you really need one or more of these? You might
prefer to have one about your person just to give you peace of mind.
4. If you think you might want to change your mind about the sighting
of intrusion detectors, the wirelss alarm system might be the better
choice. You can move these around to suit yourself, as there is no hard
wiring.
5. Are you happy to pay a reputable company, one which you trust and
have researched, to professionally install a house burglar alarm for
you or would
you rather have the cheaper option of doing it yourself. Many of the
DIY home alarm systems on the market claim to be easy to install, which
is fine, as long as the instructions are clear and easy to follow.
6. Think about the ongoing maintenance of your burglar alarm. Things
like
checking the battery condition and the various other routine checks as
specified by the manufacturer.
7. It's easy enought to check the popularity of specific products using
the internet, by looking for customer reviews and so on, and it is
worthwhile doing just this as you could avoid making a costly mistake
by sacrificing just a little of your spare time in underatking this
kind of research.
8. You might want to check your home and buildings insurance to see if
there are any discounts available for the use of home alarms, and
also if your insurer has any supplier recommendations to
tell you about. It's best to check with them before choosing one.
